The joys of research! I have been postulating certain things about a character in my neoWestern, time travel, multiverse novella series and...last night, in reading a primary source work (the letters of the mother of the person I'm basing this character on), I found the perfect framing and support for assumptions I had been making about this character's fictional development. I love it when the research comes together and, well, it's adding more depth to her story.
I am freuently amazed by how often the research supports the direction I hoped it would . . . and when it doesn’t, it’s worth reconsidering the plot and/or character.
Definitely so. In this case, I've done a lot of other reading about the era and...this gem was just a confirmation of what I already suspected. But it's good to have the support and even more details.
